Dates for all triathlon events in Austria, including registration, course, schedule, results and more details.
Due to its many lakes and mountains, Austria is predestined for varied and impressive triathlons. Almost every well-known lake in Austria is the starting point of a major triathlon event. Be it Lake Wörthersee, Lake Wolfgangsee, Lake Neusiedl, Lake Constance or Lake Zell - they are all among the most popular excursion destinations and vacation destinations in Austria. And they still have one thing in common: they are the starting point of a triathlon event.
Austria's largest triathlon
Lake Wörthersee not only attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists to Carinthia year after year, but also tens of thousands of triathletes to Austria's largest and best-known triathlon event - the IRONMAN Austria. The long distance triathlon is always fully booked with 3,000 starters. And rightly so. The race takes place in the Wörthersee and through the Lendenkanal. The 180 km long bike course through Carinthia promises not only a beautiful flair, but also a lot of action. After all, there are almost 2,000 meters of altitude to overcome. The highlight of the bike course is definitely the ascent to the now legendary Rupertiberg, which is inhabited by thousands of spectators. The flat run course will again take place in Klagenfurt - great atmosphere is also guaranteed. Every year, renowned international top athletes also compete at IRONMAN Austria.
Country of beautiful lakes
The Zellersee serves not only for relaxation, but also as a starting point for thousands of triathletes at the IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See / Kaprun, which is always held at the end of August each year. Along with IRONMAN 70.3 Graz (the successor event to IRONMAN 70.3 St. Pölten), it is one of the largest half-distance triathlons in Austria.
In the very west of the country, the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon has made a name for itself for several years. In 2012, the "TRANS" myth was reawakened. Since then, the triathlon event on Lake Constance has been attended by around 600 athletes every year. Not only the swim course at Lake Constance is impressive, but also the course afterwards. This is because it leads through the fantastic Bregenzerwald forest to the world-famous ski resort of Lech am Arlberg, where the final running course provides yet another treat. On the other side of Austria, Lake Neusiedl is the starting point of the competition at the Austria Triathlon Podersdorf.
The toughest triathlon in Austria
Other well-known triathlons in Austria are for example "Trimotion Saalfelden", the "Trumer Triathlon", the "Tulln Triathlon" or the "Linz Triathlon". Probably the most brutal and difficult triathlon event in Austria is the Austria eXtreme Triathlon. The course length is similar to a long-distance event, but an additional 6,000 meters of altitude await the 125 hardy participants. The course leads up to the alpine terrain on the Dachstein. At the same time incredibly strenuous, but also really impressive.
