The dates for all Ultra Races in Germany, including registration, course, schedule, results and more details.
In Germany, more than 100 ultra-running events are held every year. An ultra run is a running competition that has a course length longer than the marathon distance.
A marathon is 42.195 km. Therefore, if the run is longer, it is an ultra run. The most common distances in ultra running are the 50 km run and the 100 km run, as well as a 24-hour run and a 12-hour run. Stage races that are longer than 42.2 km in total are also often referred to as ultraruns. In the mountains, there are also ultratrails. These are trail runs that go beyond a distance of 42.2 km.
Which ultraruns or ultras are there in Germany?
Ultraruns in Germany are held regularly in all 16 German states, so there are more than 100 of these events each year.
Probably the best known running event of this kind is the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf. At this classic event in Thuringia, there is not only a marathon or a half marathon, but also a 73.5 km run, which some of the 17,000 starters take on.
Nature lovers will also get their money's worth at the Sachsentrail or the Maintal-Ultratrail. Another classic in the trail calendar is the Chiemgauer 100 Berg-Ultralauf, where 161 km with 7,000 meters of altitude difference await - a really tough challenge for the participants, but they are rewarded with an impressive atmosphere.
