It was exactly 890 days ago when the IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca was held for the last time.
That's how long the athletes had to wait until the first big anniversary. Because on October 16, 2021, after a break of almost two and a half years, the starting signal was given for the tenth IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca. And also for the first IRONMAN Mallorca since 2015.
The course at the IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca
Every year, 3,500 triathletes take part in the beautiful middle-distance race on the Spanish Balearic island. The start was shortly before 8 o'clock in the morning at the Port d'Alcúdia. There it went on the 1.9 kilometer long swim course. The subsequent 90-kilometer bike course now led the athletes into the interior of the island up to the Lluc Sanctuary. The athletes also got to see picturesque places like Caimari, Sa Pobla and Muro on the bike course. After the transition area at Port d'Alcúdia was reached again, the final half marathon run at the bay of Alcúdia was about the day's victory. In total there were three laps to run.
The winners
In the previous edition two years ago, the Czech Karel Zadak provided a surprise victory with 4:13:59 hours, while the British Alison Mackenzie triumphed in the women's race. In 2018, the Belgian Tom Suetens and the Dutch Marion Tuin won. The course record is held by Andreas Raelert with 3:49:49 hours. The German managed this record time right at the first edition in 2011.
