October is the last big running month of the year.
If you still want to set some best times this year, there are still plenty of opportunities this month. Many cities are hosting marathons and half-marathons. There are also numerous fun runs from five kilometers to the marathon distance.
Marathon races in Lucerne, Venice and Chicago
One of the most famous marathons in Switzerland will be held in October. In Lucerne, the starting signal for the SwissCityMarathon Lucerne will be given towards the end of the month. Incidentally, marathons will also be run in Venice and Chicago this month. Incidentally, the Chicago Marathon was the scene of the marathon world record by the Kenyan Brigid Kosgei in 2019.
Other recommendations in the US
For marathon runners we recommend a start at the Marine Corps Marathon Washington, the Twin Cities Marathon or the New Jersey Marathon. For the half marathon distance you can start at the San Jose Half Marathon.
For triathletes, October offers the most famous race in the world. Of course, we are talking about the IRONMAN Hawaii. There are also a few other middle-distance races in St. George (Utah), North Carolina, Muncie and Arizona.
After Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt follow
After the Berlin Marathon was held in Germany in September, the second big wave of marathons will follow in October. These include the Munich Marathon and the Frankfurt Marathon, to name just two big players from the Federal Republic. In Frankfurt, the finish line on a red carpet remains an everlasting memory for the marathon runners. The course in Frankfurt is also ranked second after Berlin as the fastest marathon course in Germany.
