The international highlight this month is the New York City Marathon. There are also some great triathlon races in November.
The biggest marathon comes (almost) at the end
The New York City Marathon usually has its big marathon spectacle scheduled at the beginning of the month. This means that the biggest marathon in the world doesn't take place until the end of the year. More than 50,000 starting spots are made available annually by the New York Road Runners for the marathon in the Big Apple. Demand is naturally much higher.
Incidentally, the marathon premiere in New York dates back more than half a century. The New York City Marathon was officially held for the first time in 1970. However, runners should not expect "great times" on the attractive course through all parts of the city. Because of the profiled course, the course is only suitable for best times to a limited extent.
Marathons in Athen and Florence
But New York is far from being the only major marathon in November. In Europe, marathons can also be run in Athens and Florence, among other places.
Other major races in the USA
In the USA, the Monterey Bay Half Marathon in November is one of the most beautiful half marathons in the world. The Savannah Marathon is also well booked. In New York City, the "Dash to the Finish Line" is highly coveted.
The Philadelphia Marathon and the Seattle Marathon will be run over 42.195 kilometers.
IRONMAN races are held at Panama City Beach in Florida and in Tempe, Arizona.
