In January, numerous marathons, half-marathons, cross-country races and fun runs can be held to build up form for the coming season.
Major marathons take place in Arizona, Houston, Orlando and Dubai, among others. There is a fast 10-kilometer race in Valencia.
A race with world record potential
Internationally, there are some interesting running events in January. The Xiamen Marathon in China is "usually" held on the first weekend of the year. It is the first race of the year with elite international runners. World records are even possible at the "10K Valencia Ibercaja" in Spain. The course records for the 10-kilometer distance are under 27 minutes for men and under 30 minutes for women.
USA in marathon fever
In the USA there are several opportunities to take part in major marathon events with the Wald Disney World Marathon Orlando, the Arizona Marathon and the Houston Marathon. Also scheduled for January is the Dubai Marathon, one of the fastest marathons in the world. {jcomments off}
