Complete results list from Bloomsday Run Spokane
The Bloomday Run is one of the largest running events in the world.
Every year, around 40,000 runners compete in the 12-kilometer street run in Spokane. However, after no runners at all in the last two years due to COVID measures, the Bloomsday Run could celebrate its comeback on May 1, 2022.
Finish at Riverfront Park
At 9 a.m., the starting gun was fired in downtown Spokane. It took just over 30 minutes for the top stars to reach the finish line at Riverfront Park. The course records are held by Micah Kogo and Cynthia Limo, two athletes from Kenya. Limo's 38:03 minutes from 2016 was even considered the unofficial women's world record for some time.
Also at stake for the top runners was an extremely generous prize purse of more than $10,000. Three years ago, Tanzania's Gabriel Geay clocked 34:50 minutes to secure a winner's purse of $12,000. U.S. runner Colin Bennie, the fastest local, collected half that amount. In the women's race, Rosemary Wanjiru from Kenya was the defending champion. She, too, was able to enjoy a winner's check worth 12,000 U.S. dollars.
